Fresh Details Emerge About the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Recent details have emerged regarding the tragic passing of renowned director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their residence property on Sunday.
A Alarm
According to a report referencing a person close to the family, a practitioner scheduled for an appointment initially became concerned after not being able to enter the home. The practitioner then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
After gaining access to the home, Romy came upon her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Subsequently, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Proceedings
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently being held and is ineligible for bail.
Correcting the Record
The confidential informant questioned several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.
The source also pushed back against widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction also extends to accounts of reportedly "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. While the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were inaccurate.
Investigation Timeline
As stated by law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts noted the state of their bodies implied they had been deceased for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the scene. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until no sooner than Wednesday.
