The veteran filmmaker has evolved into more than a filmmaker; his name is a franchise, an unparalleled production entity. When he has documentary series heading for the television, everybody wants an interview.

The filmmaker completed “an astonishing number of podcasts”, he says, wrapping up of his extensive publicity circuit that included numerous locations, dozens of preview events and hundreds of interviews. “With podcasts numbering in the hundreds of millions, I feel I’ve participated in a substantial portion.”

Fortunately Burns is a force of nature, as expressive in conversation as he is prolific in the editing room. Defiantly Traditional Approach

The filmmaker also explored his particular enthusiasm for territorial understanding. “I love maps,” he observes, “with greater cartographic content in this project compared to previous works I’ve done combined.”

International Impact

Filmmakers captured footage at numerous significant sites across North America and British sites to preserve geographical atmosphere and worked extensively with living history participants.
