Paceman Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Fitness Worries.

'Significant concern' for England as Atkinson is forced off due to a hamstring issue.

Gus Atkinson added to England's injury problems when he left the playing area during Saturday's play in the Melbourne Test versus the Australians.

The pace bowler felt a problem in his hamstring post-delivery in his spell on Saturday.

The England team reported Atkinson had experienced "tightness" and would spend time off the field for further assessment "in the coming hours".

The concluding match of the tour at the SCG begins this coming Sunday.

The visitors have already lost key quicks Mark Wood to a knee injury and Jofra Archer because of a side injury on this Ashes tour.

A replacement bowler was called up to provide backup.

The seamer had a tough time during the first two matches, taking just a handful of scalps.

He was left out for the Adelaide match, then recalled for the fourth Test as Archer's replacement.

Atkinson improved at the MCG, bagging two scalps during the host's first knock, and scoring 28 runs as a batsman among just a trio of teammates to reach double figures.

Post a single over late on the first day, he resumed for the second day's play and removed Scott Boland taken by the wicketkeeper.

Unfortunately, on the final ball of his spell, he delivered a slower ball to the batsman and promptly felt his left hamstring.

Atkinson returned to the side for the fourth Ashes Test after being left out the Adelaide game.
