Shock as Renowned South African DJ Gunned Down in the City of Johannesburg.
A popular South African radio and club DJ has been shot dead in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation grappling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the forty-year-old media personality was confronted by three suspects, one of whom opened fire on him before running away.
The reason of the incident has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended have taken place, according to authorities.
How It Happened
Authorities said that Stock was ambushed as he was leaving a premises in the vicinity of the city center landmark.
He had devoted time at the building overseeing the implementation of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by unidentified individuals, as per local media.
"It is alleged the deceased was confronted by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before fleeing the scene on foot," authorities stated.
Security camera video reportedly depicted a man with dreadlocks and wearing what appeared to be a security uniform firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was wounded but collapsed a short distance away.
Officials noted that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the attack.
