The Renowned Musician Calls On Backing to Propel Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.
A campaign is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The campaign aims to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
An Opportunity for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.
“The song holds a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup
The track was produced following a large-scale benefit event held in September. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the piece was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.
The impressive roster of musicians appearing on Lullaby includes a selection of acclaimed names from the industry. All were part of the earlier concert, which managed to collect a significant sum for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was brought to life by a team of talented individuals. The track showcases a mix of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.
The group managing the initiative have emphasized that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These donations will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a spokesperson said. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Obviously, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The reality in the territory was noted for its profound destruction, with a vast majority of buildings described as destroyed or damaged.
“Given that reality, a handful of millions doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is above all making this cause better known and showing there’s another side to the story.”
The track is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
